Signature Vinyl Formula
A combination of quality material and innovative engineering help create a high performance vinyl window. To ensure top quality from start to finish, Milgard begins by precisely controlling our vinyl compound formulation to withstand harsh climate conditions. We extrude our own frame material, and fabricate all Tuscany Series windows to order, giving us the tightest control over quality.
Milgard vinyl windows are available in ten exterior frame colors. Choose from standard colors of tan and white or enjoy more color flexibility with premium exterior finishes to coordinate with your home design. From the newly popular ‘fog’ to rich, bold ‘espresso’, get inspired with all the possibilities.
To create color that lasts, Milgard developed a new coating technology that allows UV rays to pass through the paint and reflect off the vinyl frame. This preserves the exterior color and finish.
Premium Exterior Vinyl Finishes are not available on jalousie windows.
Responding to the need for easy-to-operate, easy-to-maintain products, Milgard developed the innovative SmartTouch® window lock and door handle. SmartTouch hardware is in the forefront of an important new trend in home design known as “aging in place.” With so many baby boomers approaching their senior years, this technology and others are enabling people to live independently in their own homes longer and more comfortably. Milgard is committed to developing innovative products and solutions for this fast-growing market.
Milgard has earned an Arthritis Foundation Ease-of-Use Commendation for the innovation and universal design of SmartTouch® hardware as well as the prestigious International Design Excellence (IDEA) award from the Industrial Designers Society of America.
SmartTouch® Window Lock
Streamlined and Intuitive – The SmartTouch window lock mechanism is incorporated into the window sash for a sleek, low-profile design. It operates effortlessly. One smooth, single motion opens or closes the window, and locks it. No pinching, squeezing or twisting.
Security at a Glance – SmartTouch offers peace of mind your customers can see. When the handle is down, the window is locked. When the handle is up, the window is unlocked. It’s easy to use for all ages and physical abilities.
Stronger and 25% Better – The lock assembly is made from die-cast zinc so it’s not only tough, it’s built to last. Using AAMA certification, testing guidelines, independent lab engineers demonstrated that the SmartTouch lock exceeds rigorous California forced-entry codes by 25%.
The SmartTouch® window lock is available on Tuscany® Series, Montecito® Series and Essence Series® product lines.
SmartTouch® Door Handle
Sleek and Ergonomic – The SmartTouch handle has a sleek, ergonomic design and hidden lock mechanism. A simple one-touch motion unlocks, opens and closes the door, making it accessible and usable for all ages.
Exceeds Forced-Entry Codes – The SmartTouch handle’s lock and grip combination exceeds all California forced-entry requirements, which are among the most rigorous in the nation.
The SmartTouch® door handle is available on Tuscany® Series and Montecito® Series sliding patio doors.
In 2014, Milgard introduced a secondary lock for patio doors — an industry first. SmartTouch® Bolt is a fully integrated steel bolt that secures the sliding patio door firmly into the top frame with the flip of a lever. As an added benefit, SmartTouch Bolt can let the fresh air in while keeping the door secure in a vented position.
The SmartTouch® bolt is available on Tuscany® Series, Montecito® Series and Essence Series® sliding doors.
Homeowners can opt for Milgard’s SecurityMAX package, which includes a multi-point locking system paired with SmartTouch® Bolt. The multi-point lock is activated with a single motion of the SmartTouch door handle, engaging four locking points and securing the door in the top frame, bottom track and at the handle. Together, SmartTouch Bolt and the multi-point locking system provide five points of security on your patio door.*
* Locks are designed to improve security and are not guaranteed to keep intruders out under all circumstances.
Milgard Trinsic vs Tuscany
If you’re looking for a clean, square, and sleek window option that has been receiving rave reviews from many of our customers then look no further than the Milgard Tuscany series. Recently they have added an all-new Trinsic line which offers homeowners yet another selection in this classic style. Although they may seem like similar products, Milgard Tuscany and Trinsic Windows have some distinct differences.
The Tuscany and Trinsic series both have a unique look that will add character to your home. The Milgard signature vinyl is expertly crafted from the start, with complete control over materials used in production at their factory.
The difference between these two lines can be seen when compared side-by-side. Tuscany has more curves than Trinsic. While Trinsic comes equipped with clean straight corners for an elegant design finish inside or out. Also, Milgard Tuscany and Trinsic color comparisons show that the shades vary from light taupe to dark brown.
Milgard Tuscany and Trinsic operation styles are designed to complement each other. The design of the window pane on Milgards is elegant while still providing durable quality, which will last up until your next replacement in most cases with an average life span of about 12-15 years (or less!) but they won’t let you down when it matters. These windows don’t only look good – they keep out cold air like nobody’s business.
If you are looking to install new windows, then we recommend that the style of your home be taken into consideration. Trinsic and Tuscany are two excellent brands that offer almost identical products. We recommend that you consider the aesthetic preferences of both yourself and your homeowners before making a decision. Tuscany Windows will give you the look of beveled edges while Trinsic windows have sharp corners and fewer lines.
